At Creekside Creative Academy, we believe student success begins with truly knowing each child.
Every student brings unique strengths, interests, challenges, and aspirations into our classrooms. Our role is to recognize those individual differences and intentionally create learning experiences that help every student grow academically, socially, emotionally, and personally.
Because of our intentionally small class sizes and close relationships between students and educators, teachers understand not only what students are learning—but how they learn best.
That understanding allows us to provide meaningful challenge, thoughtful support, and individualized opportunities for every learner.
A Personalized Approach to Learning
Student success isn't a program.
It's the foundation of how we teach.
Rather than expecting every child to learn in exactly the same way, our educators intentionally design instruction that provides multiple opportunities for students to access learning, demonstrate understanding, and experience success while maintaining the high expectations of the Alberta curriculum.
Students are encouraged to become active participants in their learning by setting goals, reflecting on their progress, advocating for themselves, and celebrating growth throughout the year.
Learning Support
Our Student Success Team works collaboratively with classroom teachers, educational assistants, families, and outside professionals to create learning environments where students can thrive.
When appropriate, individualized support plans are developed to ensure accommodations and strategies are consistently implemented across the student's educational experience.
Our goal is always to build student confidence, independence, and self-advocacy while maintaining high expectations and meaningful learning experiences.
Universal Design for Learning
At Creekside, educators intentionally plan using the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Rather than creating one lesson for the "average learner," teachers design instruction that allows students to:

Executive Function & Independent Learning

At Creekside Creative Academy, relationships are at the heart of learning.
We believe students learn best when they feel safe, valued, understood, and supported. Our intentionally small learning environments allow educators to know each student as an individual—not simply by their academic performance, but by their strengths, interests, challenges, and goals.
Personalized Learning
With class sizes capped at 18 students across our campus, teachers are able to provide meaningful individualized support throughout the school day.
Learning is intentionally adapted to meet students where they are while encouraging them to continually grow. Some students require additional challenge, while others benefit from targeted support or different approaches to learning. Our educators work collaboratively to ensure every child is appropriately supported.
A Team Approach
Supporting students is a partnership between educators and families.
Open communication, regular feedback, and collaborative planning help ensure students experience consistency between home and school while receiving the support they need to be successful.
Where appropriate, Creekside also collaborates with specialists and outside professionals to help students reach their individual goals.
Supporting the Whole Child
Academic success is only one part of a child's development.
We intentionally support students' social, emotional, physical, and personal growth alongside their academic learning, helping them develop confidence, resilience, empathy, independence, and healthy relationships.
When children feel known, they become more willing to take risks, ask questions, persevere through challenges, and discover what they're capable of.

Assessment & Reporting
Assessment at Creekside Creative Academy is designed to support learning—not simply measure it.
We believe meaningful assessment provides students with clear feedback, celebrates progress, identifies next steps, and encourages continual growth throughout the learning process.
Early Learning (Child Care, Junior Kindergarten & Kindergarten)
Families receive daily communication through our reporting platform, providing insight into each child's experiences and development.

Technology with Purpose
Technology is an important part of today's world—but it should never replace meaningful teaching, authentic experiences, or human connection.
At Creekside Creative Academy, we use technology intentionally, introducing it when it enhances learning and preparing students to become responsible, capable digital citizens.
Early Years Through Grade 2
Young children learn best through conversation, movement, creativity, exploration, and hands-on experiences.
Technology use is intentionally minimal during these years, allowing students to develop strong communication, collaboration, and foundational learning skills through authentic interactions with educators, peers, and the world around them.
Experiential Learning
Learning by Doing
Some of the most meaningful learning happens when students actively experience it.
Experiential learning is woven throughout Creekside's programs because we know children retain knowledge more deeply when they investigate, create, collaborate, reflect, and apply what they have learned in authentic situations. Rather than simply reading about concepts, students have opportunities to experience them firsthand.

It is about developing people of character who will positively impact their families, communities, and the world around them.
Leadership at Every Age
Leadership begins long before graduation.
Children learn to lead by encouraging classmates, solving problems collaboratively, taking responsibility for their actions, serving their community, and contributing positively to the culture of the school.
As students mature, leadership opportunities grow alongside them, preparing graduates who are ready to confidently step into post-secondary education, the workplace, and their communities.
Leaving a Legacy
Our hope is that every graduate leaves Creekside with more than excellent academics.
We hope they leave as thoughtful leaders, compassionate citizens, lifelong learners, and people who have the courage to make a positive difference wherever life leads them.
