Suzy Potts
Head of School, Creekside
Suzy Potts is the Head of School at Creekside, a community built around the belief that children thrive when they are both deeply known and meaningfully challenged. Suzy brings to Creekside a foundation in both teaching and educational psychology, having earned her Bachelor of Education and later her Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta. Her leadership is grounded in a simple but powerful idea: when learning is rigorous, authentic, and developmentally appropriate, students grow not only in achievement, but in confidence, character, and joy.
At Creekside, Suzy is dedicated to nurturing a school experience that is academically ambitious and deeply rooted in childhood. The core values of Creekside — academic rigor, authentic learning experiences, outdoor education, citizenship, and a thriving community — are not add-ons here; they are the heart of what we do. They’re also the values Suzy believes every child deserves woven into their upbringing and education, from the earliest years through graduation.

As much as I love the learning spaces we’ve built and the experiences we offer outdoors, what moves me most is the people who fill this community: children who bring their whole selves to school, families who believe in growth without losing childhood, and educators who care deeply about both excellence and belonging.
Watching students and families thrive here — seeing children and young adults grow into who they are, finding success without fear, and developing a genuine sense of responsibility to one another and to the world — is profoundly meaningful. And knowing that this community is part of a larger network doing good and important work makes it even more so.

Creekside was created for families who want something more than a checklist education. We are a school for the whole journey — beginning at 12 months of age and continuing through to Grade 12 — and we take seriously the responsibility that comes with walking alongside a child for those formative years.
What makes Creekside special is the balance we hold every day:
academic excellence that is developmentally appropriate, learning that is authentic and purposeful, and an outdoor-integrated program that helps children stay connected to curiosity, wellbeing, and the world beyond classroom walls.
We want our students to think deeply and work hard, but we also want them to stay fully themselves. At Creekside, rigor is not pressure for its own sake. It’s meaningful challenge, excellent teaching, and steady growth — the kind that builds capable learners who know how to persist, reflect, and contribute with confidence.
